the patience of ordinary things - pat schneider

Today's post is curated by Kavita Rayirath, who is a fabulous curator of beautiful things on the internet herself. It's a joy to have her guest curating today's post. The love and generosity with which she picks poetry to share with the world, and her knack of finding evocative art to create a dialogue between text and image mustn't be missed! Do swipe to see a beautiful painting that accompanies this poem... Over to you Kavita :) I once read, in the book Continuum Concept, of how the eyes are an expectation of light, lungs are an expectation of air. It was enlightening. To see, that things are not just things, devoid of context. There is interdependence. Each came to be for a purpose, even something as usual as a window we look out of everyday. This, to me, is a poem of the expectations things are founded on, and the patience inherent in waiting and being, as the poet observes it. I find in it a learning on how one can be both, expectant and patient. It is reassuring, this land beyond either-or, where companions in contradiction may dance together, even if to different tunes.
